A QUICK NOTE ABOUT OUR PARKING LOT!  A major facelift for our parking lot has been in the planning stages for quite a while, and though we thought we might have to wait until Spring, everything has now lined up for us to move forward with resurfacing the lot over the next couple days (Tue-Thu, Nov 7-9).  If you're heading down to THE NEON over these next couple days, be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes to find street parking in the neighborhood.  That said, parking in the Convention Center garage should only be $1 after 6:00pm.

Hello Everyone!

This Thursday night, we open one of my favorite films in a long time...a film that is certain to be an awards contender this season - THE HOLDOVERS.  This film marks the first time that Alexander Payne and Paul Giamatti have worked together since SIDEWAYS (almost 20 years ago), and attendees of our "Early Access" screening a couple weeks ago really loved it. I'm hopeful all these signs point to a hit!  The entire cast is fantastic.

On our other screen, PRISCILLA is sticking around for one more week, but ANATOMY OF A FALL is only here until Thursday.  Hurry down!

So many of you have been asking for KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON...and I'm happy to say that we have found room for it during the week of Nov. 17-23.  Hurry down when we have it...it will only play for a week.  Along with FLOWER MOON, we will add a traditional, week-long engagement of the locally made NFL doc TRIANGLE PARK!  We've also added some other great new titles to our line-up.  The new Todd Haynes film with Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman - MAY/DECEMBER - will open on Nov. 24, MAESTRO - the new film about Leonard Bernstein, directed by and starring Bradley Cooper, is currently slated to open Dec. 15, and the new, bold and gorgeous adaptation of THE COLOR PURPLE will open Dec. 25 (tickets for opening week are on sale now - so it's not too early to make your holiday movie plans).

"Open Caption Mondays" continue to be well-received - PRISCILLA and THE HOLDOVERS will be presented with Open Captions (captions projected on the screen) on Monday, Nov. 13. (As a reminder, seating is no longer assigned on Mondays-Thursdays for traditional engagements.)

Synopsis for THE HOLDOVERS: "A curmudgeonly instructor at a New England prep school is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker—and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam." (Focus Features)

If you're into underground, fringe or cult classic cinema, there's a film series you're gonna want to check out - Cult Movie Mondays - and week #8 happens at The NEON on Monday, Nov. 13th at 7:30pm, with POULTRYGEIST: NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD. One big change this week!  Tickets are now being handled through THE NEON's website, and they're $13 each.
Synopsis: "When the American Chicken Bunker, a military themed fast food restaurant, builds its latest chain restaurant on the site of an ancient Native American burial ground, the displaced spirits take revenge on unsuspecting diners and transform them into chicken zombies! Now, it’s up to a dimwitted counter boy, his ex-girlfriend and a fry cook to put an end to the foul feathered menace once and for all."  Join The Cult Movie Monday gang for a special preshow theater party featuring vintage previews, shorts. and more and an after party at Toxic Brew Co!  Everything starts with special programming at 7:30pm and the film starting promptly at 8:00pm.

Cult Movie Monday is proudly presented in partnership with The Local 937, a brand new sandwich café opening in St. Annes Hill this Fall and Toxic Brew Company located a short D.O.R.A. walk away in the Oregon District. Tickets available anytime via THE NEON's website or in-person at our box office during traditional hours.

We added an encore of TRIANGLE PARK on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5:10, and tickets are already flying.  But fear not if you can't make it. TRIANGLE PARK will have a traditional, week-long engagement starting Nov. 17. Ticketing details coming soon!

And as a bonus, Dr. Shannon Peck-Bartle, Education and Community Engagement Director at the DAI, will give a brief presentation after the film. We've just scheduled an encore (screening only) for Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30!

Fans of our one-night-only music docs are gonna love IMMEDIATE FAMILY (from the director of THE WRECKING CREW). Carole King said, "This film is a window into the lives of my musical brothers, whose gold standard is to make sure that every song they play on comes out even better than the songwriter imagined. Now they're doing that for their own songs, and this film tells their story beautifully."
