Hello Everyone!

This weekend, we open the film that many of you have been asking about - the little gem that had Barbra Streisand raving during her "Lifetime Achievement" acceptance speech - DRIVING MADELEINE. In addition, we're adding a few shows of a new music-themed doc called THEY SHOT THE PIANO PLAYER...featuring some incredible music and a great history lesson.

ONE LIFE, starring Anthony Hopkins as Nicholas Winton, is still winning over audiences - so it will stick around. And though  PROBLEMISTA got off to a rocky start, our audiences loved it...so it will stick around for a handful of screenings for a second and final week.

WICKED LITTLE LETTERS, one of my favorites from The Toronto International Film Fest, opens next Thursday, Apr. 4.  Starring Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckely, this film is hilariously profane but has a big heart with some interesting things to say.  Tickets for opening week are already on sale.  Read more about it and watch the trailer HERE.

"Open Caption Mondays" are back!  On Monday, April 1, all screenings of ONE LIFE and PROBLEMISTA will be presented with Open Captions (aka - captions presented on the screen). DRIVING MADELEINE is subtitled for all screenings.

TONIGHT! THE PADDLING FILM FESTIVAL is an international adventure film tour presenting the world’s best paddling films of the year – whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, action and lifestyle – in more than 120 cities and towns across Canada, United States and around the world. This year's edition is once again sponsored by Massie Creek Paddlers and Tomfoolery Outdoors!  One Night Only - Thursday, March 28 at 7:30.  Tickets are $12.50 each.

WHO KILLED GANDHI?

Join us for a one-time screening of WHO KILLED GANDHI? on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:30.  We will be presenting this special screening in partnership with The Dayton International Peace Museum's "Season For NonViolence."  WHO KILLED GANDHI? is an investigation into assassin Nathuram Vinayak Godse, his mentor Vinakay Damodar Savarkar, and the murder of a man considered by many to be a saint and the father of modern India, Mahatma Gandhi. For our post-screening discussion, we will be joined by Dr. Arvind Elangovan, a Professor of History and Associate Chair in the School of Humanities and Cultural Studies at Wright State University. Tickets are $8 each.

BLACKOUT

Cinematographer and Dayton native Collin Brazie is coming back to town with a brand new horror film - BLACKOUT. This new movie will screen one time on Friday, April 5 at 10:00pm, and tickets are $12.50 each. "Charley’s secret is he thinks he’s a werewolf. He can’t remember the things he’s done but the papers report random acts of violence taking place at night in this small upstate hamlet. Now the whole town must rally to find out what is tearing it apart: mistrust, fear, or a monster that comes out at night." Brazie will be in attendance, and we'll host a special Q&A after the screening.

I'M NOT LEAVING

"When the Rwandan genocide broke out in 1994, one American chose to stay in the country and risk everything in hope of saving a few lives. I'M NOT LEAVING tells the story of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide against the Tutsi through the eyes of the Wilkens family. This 40-minute documentary will be followed by a discussion including a local resident who has traveled to Rwanda with Carl Wilkens.

BLACKSKIN

Felons with a Future, a local non-profit organization in Dayton,  and Foremost Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based film and television production company, will present an encore screening of the feature film BLACKSKIN. The screening will be followed by a special Q&A with the Hollywood Director Marc Cayce and Greg West of Felons with a Future. Wednesday, April 10 at 7:30. ANSELM

Wim Wenders' PERFECT DAYS was so loved that we have to bring his new documentary that is getting raves around the world. This unique cinematic experience dives deep into an artist’s work and reveals his life path, inspiration, and creative process. Past and present are interwoven to diffuse the line between film and painting, allowing the audience to be completely immersed in the remarkable world of one of the greatest contemporary artists, Anselm Kiefer. Wenders shot this unique portrait over the course of two years.  This special one-time screening will be presented in 2D on Sunday, April 14 at 5:00. Tickets are $12.50 each.

BIG LENS WSU STUDENT SHOWCASE

"The 36th annual student showcase of the award-winning Wright State University's Motion Picture Department. Featuring nine diverse and multi-genre student films! This special one-time screening of GOD & COUNTRY, hosted by Grace United Methodist Church, is set for Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30.  Tickets are $12.50 each.
