Hello Everyone!

This Friday, we're opening a film that has Sir Ian McKellen tearing up the scenery - THE CRITIC.  Though GOOD ONE is heading out after tomorrow (Thursday), SING SING and BETWEEN THE TEMPLES will stick around at least through Tuesday.  (The schedule at the bottom of this newsletter only goes through Tuesday next week...we may make a decision to bring a new film in the middle of next week - but we won't know until Friday evening.)

I've stepped beyond the half-way point for this year's Toronto International Film Fest.  In the first 6 days, I've seen 23 films, attended a great party, sat in on a couple wonderful interviews with big talent, and rubbed elbows with some celebrities.  This trip is always a highlight of my year, and you can follow along with my daily blog at: www.dayton937.com/tag/tiff

"Open Caption Mondays" are back!  On Monday, Sept. 16, all screenings of SING SING and BETWEEN THE TEMPLES will be presented with Open Captions (aka - captions presented on the screen).

REDLINGING: MAPPING INEQUALITY IN DAYTON & SPRINGFIELD

Destinye Arnold of The Conscious Connect  & Toya Webb of Home Experts Realty are hosting a FREE screening of this locally-produced, Emmy-winning film on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7:30! "This one-hour documentary explores the history and impact of redlining on both a national and local level. Produced by Richard Wonderling and Selena Burks-Rentschler, the film delves into the experiences of local families affected by redlining and examines the enduring repercussions of this federal policy in our region... Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and the screening will begin at 7:30 p.m. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion focusing on the state of housing and real estate in the Dayton area. We invite individuals from the housing industry and all interested community members to engage! Housing resources and materials will also be available on-site." PAUL MCCARTNEY & WINGS: ONE HAND CLAPPING

Two special screenings of this new documentary are on the books! Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 and Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5:15. Tickets are available now!"Directed by David Litchfield, this film captured a moment when Paul McCartney and Wings had found and defined their signature sound. Filmed over four days at Abbey Road Studios in August 1974, the film provides an insight into the inner workings of the band as they work and play together in the studio. Including performances of tracks from Wings masterpiece Band on the Run (released in 1973), intimate footage of the band hanging out in the studio, combined with audio interview snippets, the film also includes previously unreleased full footage of a solo acoustic performance by Paul called The Backyard Sessions." OHIO-MADE HORROR TRILOGY

Based in Ashland, Ohio, Good Deed Entertainment is bringing 3 horror films to us on consecutive Saturday nights starting in late September - The FRESH HELL Trilogy.  Shows begin at 10:00, and tickets are regular price.  The first in the trilogy is THE EXORCISM OF ST. PATRICK will screen on Saturday, Sept. 21. The second in the trilogy - WOLVES AGAINST THE WORLD - will screen on Saturday, Sept. 28. CULT MOVIE NIGHT: TRICK 'R TREAT
