Hello Everyone!

It is clearly Award Season...as we have a stack of big contenders to get to over the next several weeks.  This Thursday night, we'll open the award-winning film with Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis - THE LAST SHOWGIRL - directed by Gia Coppola.  In the coming weeks, we'll get to Almodovar's THE ROOM NEXT DOOR, Mike Leigh's HARD TRUTHS and the big Golden Globe winner starring Adrien Brody - THE BRUTALIST.

If you still need to see NOSFERATU, you'll need to hurry.  Thursday will be its last day!  A COMPLETE UNKNOWN will stick around for another week.

"Open Caption Mondays" are a hit and much appreciated by many of our regulars.  On Monday, Jan. 13, all screenings of THE LAST SHOWGIRL and A COMPLETE UNKNOWN will be presented with Open Captions (aka - captions presented on the screen). 

Synopsis for  THE LAST SHOWGIRL:  A poignant film of resilience, rhinestones and feathers, THE LAST SHOWGIRL stars Pamela Anderson as Shelly, a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. Directed by Gia Coppola, THE LAST SHOWGIRL Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis as Shelly’s best friend...and both ladies are incredible!

Tickets are $12.50 each. Prior to the screening, Dayton experimental musician Rusty Skelding will be presenting a hands-on modular synthesizer demonstration where patrons can explore creating generative electronic sounds.

Cult Movie Night presents DINNER IN AMERICA

Victor Bonacore is bringing back his popular "Cult Movie Night" with a more contemporary cult film - DINNER IN AMERICA. "An on-the-lam punk rocker and a young woman obsessed with his band go on an unexpected and epic journey together through the decaying suburbs of the American Midwest. After the original song "Watermelon" went viral on TikTok, audiences in droves are rediscovering this gnarly, punk rock rom-com from Adam Carter Rehmeier...DINNER IN AMERICA suffered the box-office fate of so many films when Covid-19 shut down theaters. Nearly five years later, the film has been selling out screens across the country from the IFC Center in NY to the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA. It's a feel-good romance with an edge.
As always the film will be accompanied by trailers, a short film and other surprises.

On Monday, January 20, we will continue our annual tradition of offering a free movie in conjunction with the community-wide observation and celebration of Martin Luther King Day.  This event is targeted at young people - and we will plan to have a discussion following the screening to discuss the film, its themes and the community service that Charity Adams Earley continued to do while living in Dayton.  Please help us spread the word to any junior high & high school aged students who may enjoy this event.

Doors will open at 10:30am on Monday, Jan. 20, and seating will be first-come, first-served.

Silents Synced: NOSFERATU with RADIOHEAD

"Silents Synced" pairs classic silent movies with epic rock music. Created by an independent cinema owner for independent cinemas! The first film in this series will feature Radiohead’s “KID A (2000) / Amnesiac (2001),” paired with NOSFERATU - the 1922 silent German Expressionist vampire film directed by F. W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck as Count Orlok.
