THEATER CAMP Opens & BARBIE Continues!

Hello Everyone,

The past couple weekends have really been tremendous for us. Thank you for all of your support...it means so much to us that so many people have chosen to see the biggest movie of the summer at THE  NEON. That said, we've still got a lot to get to in the coming weeks. On Thursday evening, we will start

THEATER CAMP (Thursday's screening is in partnership with Theater Lab Dayton - more on that below). If you still want to see THE BEANIE BUBBLE (and collect a FREE Beanie Baby with your ticket purchase), you'll need to hurry - Thursday is its last day with us!

BARBIE, which has already become our highest grossing film of the last three years (in just 9 days!), will be sticking around!

This Thursday, we will be switching over to a new website and overall new point of sale in our lobby (a new app will be available very, very soon, too). This change will make it possible for us to have a membership program and keep better records. On Wednesday evening at about 6:00, tickets will not be available via our website and app. On Thursday morning, our new website will launch and you'll be able to purchase tickets from that site. (If you use our app, the current version will no longer be functional starting Wednesday evening.). Don't fear if you've purchased advanced tickets for any upcoming screening. We will still have record of your sale at our box office!

"Open Caption Mondays" continue to be well-received. On Monday, Aug. 7, BARBIE and THEATER CAMP will be presented with Open Captions (captions presented on the screen). As a reminder, seating is no longer assigned on Mondays-Thursdays for traditional engagements.

NEW ENGAGEMENT:

Synopsis for THEATER CAMP: "Tony Award winner Ben Platt and Molly Gordon star in the new original comedy THEATER CAMP as Amos and RebeccaDiane – lifelong best friends and drama instructors at a rundown camp in upstate New York. When clueless tech-bro Troy (Jimmy Tatro) arrives to run the property (into the ground), Amos, Rebecca-Diane and production manager Glenn (Noah Galvin) band together with the staff and students to stage a masterpiece, and keep their beloved summer camp afloat." UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS:

Tomorrow (Wednesday, Aug. 2) is our final screening of HAVE YOU GOT IT YET? THE STORY OF SYD BARRETT AND PINK FLOYD! "Cult icon, enigma, recluse... the life of Syd Barrett, founding member of Pink Floyd, is full of unanswered questions. Until now. Piecing together his comet-like rise to pop stardom, his creative and destructive impulses, breakdown, exit from the band and subsequent life alone, this feature length documentary is set against the social context of the explosive sixties. Directed by Storm Thorgerson (Hipgnosis) and award-winning director Roddy Bogawa, it features new interviews with Syd’s friends, lovers, family and band mates Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason." Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 7:30 - tickets just $12.50 each. Click the image below to watch the film's trailer.

"Preschool Promise has partnered with the creators of the award-winning documentary  BLACK BOYS to bring this powerful film to the Greater Dayton community and to spark conversation about positive changes that we can all make when we work together. This film shows what’s possible when we see Black boys and men in a different light and work to see equity from a new lens. BLACK BOYS, directed by Sonia Lowman, illuminates the spectrum of black male humanity in America. An intimate, inter-generational exploration, BLACK BOYS strives for insight into black identity and opportunity at the nexus of sports, education and criminal justice. The film elevates an urgent and timely reckoning on identity, opportunity and equity to reimagine success for Black males in America while also touching on their vulnerability and resilience in the face of dehumanization. Enjoy this powerful film at 10:00 A.M. on August 12 or September 30. You can reserve a spot and find out more by clicking the image below.

(Scripted In Black)

THE NEON is delighted to bring the latest edition of CatVideoFest to town - a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses.
